FRUIT

Remember your child can bring one piece of fruit to school for their snack at play time, or they can bring 30p to buy fruit from our fruit trolley.

Our topic for the Autumn term is

‘Colour, Light and Shape’.

Throughout this term we will also be looking at Harvest, Autumn, Divali and Christmas. The children will be given opportunities to explore with colour mixing, camouflage, shape, shadows and light. We will also be comparing night and day. If any parents feel they have a skill to offer for our class theme, please make yourself known as we are always looking for helpful hands.

Home Time (2.55pm)

When picking up at the end of the day could you please stand to the left of the gate. (when looking at the school) Thank you

PE

Please ensure that your child brings their PE clothes (in a bag, labelled with their name) every Thursday. Please encourage your child to practise getting dressed/undressed at home to help them get changed quickly in school.

COAT

Please ensure that your child brings a suitable coat to school every day, as we go out in all weather.

On a Monday afternoon the children will have a”Messy Monday” afternoon, pleases ensure they have a coat as well as wellington boots. They will be doing activities outside in all weathers.

Reading books

Reading books will be sent home on a daily basis. We encourage you to read with your child every night, please sign in the record book.

This can be a special time for you and your child and really helps with their progress.

Reception Children will start with books without any print. This will introduce them to books. Encourage them to look for clues in the picture, discuss what is happening and to make up and tell a story. These are all important pre-reading skills.

HANDWRITING

We use the cursive handwriting at school, therefore when you’re helping your child to write at home, please encourage them to form the letters correctly.

Also enclosed in their book bag is a laminated sheet for the children to practise their letter and number formation.
