Catch Up Literacy
Mrs Goddard and Mrs Layzell facilitate this one-to-one intervention for learners who find reading difficult. It is a intervention that runs twice a week for 15 minute sessions.
Mrs Layzell facilitates this intervention in small groups for learners in Key Stage 2, who may have dyslexic tendencies. The provision focuses on fine and gross motor skills, visual discrimination, auditory and visual memory and spelling patterns and rules. It is an intervention that runs twice a week for 40 minutes.
Secret Agents Jr
Mrs Goddard facilitates this intervention in small groups for learners in the Foundation Phase, who may have dyslexic tendencies. The provision focuses on fine and gross motor skills, visual discrimination and auditory and visual memory. It is an intervention that runs three times a week for 15 minutes.
Accelerated Literacy primary objective is to significantly improve literacy learning for all pupils. This intervention is run 5 times a week for 15 minute sessions on a one-to-one basis.
Read Write Inc
Miss Ormond is the Read Write Inc coordinator at Narberth and we run RWI focus groups 3 times a week for 45 minutes Monday - Wednesday. RWI is a programme that is embedded into the children's literacy work throughout school life.
Tric a Chlic
Mrs Layzell is the Tric a Chlic coordinator at Narberth and we deliver Tric a Chlic sessions within in the classroom. The children participate in rotations in the classroom daily. The rotations will include phonics, writing, continuous provision and oral activities. This will ensure that the skills the children learn are embedded early and can be applied to all aspects of their work.
Premier League Reading Stars
Premier League Reading Stars (PLRS) is a 10-week literacy intervention. The aim is to stimulate literacy engagement in children who love football but lack motivation in reading. This intervention runs once a week for an hour
Fluency Booster Groups
This is an addition to RWI and Tric a Chlic as it is a group that focuses on the fluency of their reading.
Speech and Language Programmes
This is a specific intervention where an external agency will come in and assess the child and a specific programme will be given to Mrs Layzell or Mrs Goddard to follow in school. This is communicated home to parents via the Speech and Language Therapist.
TRUGS (Teaching Reading Using Games)
TRUGS is a great intervention within the school for the Welsh and English stream children. It can support children with dyslexia or children with processing and difficulty reading. It's a phonics based reading intervention with a variety of games to play. This interventions is run four times a week for 15 minutes.
